Instruments of a Historic Tone offers wonderful insight into The Michael & Sonja Koerner Early Instrument Collection, on public display in the TELUS Centre for Performance and Learning at The Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, Ontario. This generous gift from the Koerners’ personal collection is comprised of more than forty rare and antique pieces, primarily brass, woodwind and keyboard instruments along with several manuscripts. Each piece is beautifully photographed and identified, many with extended entries detailing their history and the context in which they were created. The Collection serves as inspiration to students, staff, faculty and members of the public who come to The Royal Conservatory of Music.
